This Picasso Tiles Marble Run was an exciting set for my kids to try. It is a must if you already own a collection of Picasso Tiles since it is compatible with their full-size tiles. This brightly colored set is a fun take on constructing marble runs.
Most important to know is it is more challenging for young children to design their own marble runs. Having to snap in the pieces makes it difficult for young builders. And a single box of Picasso Tiles Marble Run pieces leaves limited combinations.
What In The Box
This 50-piece Picasso Tiles set comes with 50 plastic marble run pieces and 3 marbles. The pieces comprise of funnel piece, 2 ramps, 8 long straight, 2 short straight, 2 half circle, 4 quarter circle, 20 magnetic connectors with circle center and 1 solid magnetic connector. Also in the book is an idea booklet that includes instructions to make 6 marble runs and 12 non-marble run creations.
Something to note is only some things in the idea book can be completed with just this set. This could be frustrating for young children.
Construction
With 6 different example builds in the idea book, this marble run will surely be a hit. The idea book does not provide step-by-step instructions, so be sure to assist younger marble run enthusiasts. Additionally, the pieces need to snap together to ensure better stability. This is something my 7 year old could do but his younger siblings could not.
The Picasso Tile marble run set can have many different configurations, but like anything, more pieces always make it more versatile. By purchasing multiple sets or using an existing collection, Picasso Tiles will make the different marble run builds that can be created endless.
Get Creative
Picasso Tiles are magnetic so they stick to many kitchen appliances. We were able to build a taller marle run course by using the dishwasher as an anchor point. We were able to use fewer pieces to support the marble run structure and made this awesome marble run!
Another option is the PicassoTiles Mini Diamond set. This is a fun set to expand your picasso set. This set only connects to other mini sets but creates some awesome marble runs.
Conclusion
Overall, this is an excellent addition to someone’s marble run collection. It provides plenty of versatility but does require the help of an older sibling or parent to snap the pieces in place. If you are looking for an independent toy for children under age 7, I would wait until they are older to purchase this.
