The pieces in this marble run set are plastic but seem very durable. We’ve dumped the box out and tipped over marble runs many times and haven’t broken any pieces. The set only comes with 8 marbles, which can quickly become lost. The marbles are standard size and are inexpensive to replace so it isn’t a big concern.
There are no instructions included with this set. It is not difficult to create your own ideas or if you are stuck look at some of the builds on this page.
Construction
The GALT Super Marble Run set gets a lot of use in our house because it is so easy for the kids to connect and disconnect the pieces themselves. To connect the pieces it is as easy as pushing them together or pulling them apart. Figuring out how to arrange the pieces to make a continuous path can be tricky and requires patience. With a little practice, track building becomes quick and fun.
This marble run is suggested for kids aged 4+. By age 4 kids should be able to understand which direction to place the pieces to create a long track and how to establish a strong base so it will not tip over. My kids enjoyed playing with this by 1.5 years old with my help. They would sit for hours feeding marbles down the marble run. Watch kids carefully with the marbles because many young children still put things in their mouths and the marbles are a choking hazard.
Conclusion
Overall, the 60-piece GALT Super Marble Run set is a good starting set. The included 60 pieces can create a bunch of different smaller designs and are great for younger kids who are not ready or bigger more complicated setups. If purchasing for a kid age 6+ I would suggest a bigger set. The larger sets come with a larger variety of pieces, which would allow them to be more creative and hold their attention longer.
